Alasdair Schläft
Cold sweat covered Alasdair's face as he woke up. A dull pain pounding in his head. It was new moon and the dark forest swallowed most of the faint light from the stars. The faint glow of the died-out campfire covered the surrounding bushes and trees in a dark red glow. "What?", Alasdair thought, "No one on guard? How can this be? Where is Aodhan?!" Suddenly, a wet, crunching sound behind him. Aodhan was lying on the ground, dead. And a large ogre gnawing on his shoulder. Aodhan whispered from dark blue, bloody lips, "It's alright, he is hungry." And just as Alasdair was about to scream...
Cold sweat covered Alasdair's face as he woke up. His muscles were burning. Everything around him looked was covered in a light gray veil, as well as appearing weirdly flat, missing depth. The campfire still was burning, but somehow not giving out any light. He rubbed his face to get rid of the sweat and clear his eyes. "My eyes! Where are my eyes?!", he screamed. He touched higher and higher and found a single eye on his forehead. The encounter with the corrupted ogre from the dungeon has left his mark. Alasdair looked around. Where was everybody? All the gear was there, but the camp was deserted. Wait! No. A group of half-transparent figures was sitting around the campfire. A dwarf, a human, and a kobold. His 'friends' from the other side. "Father", Alasdair said, "what is going on here? My family is gone. My eyes are gone." As Alasdair got closer, the human stood up, and said "I see you." "What?", Alasdair answered, "Father, tell me what's happening!" Alasdair got even closer and to his horror he realized that all of the half-transparent figures were eyes, just eyes, many, many eyes in the shape of bodies. "I see you.", said the dwarf, "I see you.", said the kobold. Alasdair opened his mouth to scream, but...
Cold sweat covered Alasdair's face as he woke up. He immediately touched his face and forehead. Thank Chauntea, he could see again and the third eye was gone. His pain has subsided and his family already got up and prepared breakfast. What a night this was. Gwen stirred the pot of porridge on the fire. She stirred and stirred, the pot fell over, spilling all the food on the forest floor, and she continued stirring in the air. "Watch out, Gwen! You spoil all our food!" Gwen silently turned to Alasdair. She had no eyes. "Oh Gwenn, where are your eyes?", Alasdair shouted. "My what now?", Gwenn said confused. "Your eyes! On your face! Where are they?" "What are eyes?", Gwenn asked. "Yeah, what are eyes?", Liadain asked as well. "Eyes?", Glenn asked. His whole family was blind, his whole family had just smooth skin where their eyes are supposed to be. Alasdair fell to his knees and started screaming...
Cold sweat covered Alasdair's face as he woke up...
After the scream stopped, Liadain uncovered hear ears and asked "How long has this been going on?" "All night.", Aodhan answered. "Should we do something?", she asked. Aodhan thought for a second, and then answered, "On one hand he needs his sleep. On the other hand, I need my ears and my sanity. Yes. Let's end this ordeal." He shook the old man awake. "You can see, you can see!", Alasdair croaks. "Obviously?", Aohdan responds. "But my voice, my voice is gone!", Alasdair stammers hoarsely. "As is my hearing, old man.", Aodhan scoffs.
